Basic Policy on the Protection of Personal Information

The board members and employees (including temporary employees) engaged in the business of General Incorporated Association The Japan-Multinational Trial Organization (hereinafter referred to as "The Association") shall acknowledge that personal information is a valuable asset and that the protection of personal information is vital for conducting the business of The Association, and will therefore endeavor to protect personal information.

1. Formulation and Continuous Improvement of Rules regarding the Protection
of Personal Information
The Association shall raise awareness of the importance of the protection of personal
information among the board members and employees, establish rules to adequately protect
personal information, and continuously examine and review them.
2. Compliance with Laws
The Association complies with applicable laws and other guidelines concerning or relating to the retention of personal information.
3. Acquisition and Use of Personal Information
In obtaining personal information, The Association notifies in advance the individuals who provide information of the purpose and method of use,. and uses personal information obtained only when needed to carry out business.
4. Release of Personal Information to Third Parties
The Association does not provide personal information to third parties without the consent of the individual who is the subject of the information, unless the information is required by law or provided to sources previously agreed upon by the individual.
5. Personal Information Management
The Association ensures the accuracy of personal information. The Association safely manages personal information by implementing appropriate security safeguards to protect against unauthorized access, viruses and other threats that could cause loss, destruction, alteration or compromise of information.
6. Disclosure, Correction and Suspension of Use of Personal Information
The Association responds appropriately when the individual, who is the subject of the information, makes a request for disclosure, correction or suspension of use of his or her personal information.
7. Organization and Structure
The Association assigns an individual to be responsible for protecting personal information and adequately supervises the management of information. Furthermore, it ensures the proper handling of personal information by providing guidance and instruction to the board members, employees and other persons involved on how to protect and properly manage personal information.

Personal Information will be used for the Following Purposes:
・ Japan-multinational clinical research for the purpose of improving the quality of medical care
・ Communication and research collaboration with researchers or research organizations
from Japan and other countries
・ Outsourcing of clinical testing and other outsourced operations
・ Research collaboration on drug research and development
・ Case/incident report in academic societies, workshops, or medical journals for the purpose of
advancing medical care
・ Provision of information to an external auditing organization
※ However, in principle, information is provided on an anonymous basis. Should the use of
personal information be against the interest of the
individual who is the subject of the information, the information is not used even within
the scope of the purposes listed above.
